"Bean" Pizza

Last week after church, we went to Knolla's Pizza with Patti.  It's a little local place, but it's one of our favorites.  We usually get the vegetarian pizza, but because Patti was with us, we opted for the cheeseburger pizza.  Now, I should pause here and say that we've always struggled getting Chloe to eat much.  She's a tiny little thing (barely in the 5th percentile now for weight at her age), and she's SO BUSY that she'd rather do anything besides sit still and eat.  So, we're usually satisfied to get a few bites and some milk down her.

On this particular night, she'd been cranky, so I figured she was probably getting hungry.  I just didn't know HOW hungry.  We got to Knolla's and they brought our pizza out, and I thought she was going to go across the table to get to it.  She was so excited and hadn't even tried it yet!

This pizza is basically a cheeseburger in pizza form.  It has beef, cheese, mustard, pickles, and onions.  It is seriously DELICIOUS.  When we cut the first piece for Chloe, she immediately started cramming it into her mouth saying "mmmmmm!"  After a few bites, she started picking the little pieces of beef up to eat separately.  In her mind, they looked like beans, which she loves.  So, she'd grab a little piece of beef and say "mmmm beans!" then gobble it up complete with the sound effects like cookie monster makes.

I only wish we'd gotten our phones out for video because we've never seen her eat like that.  She finished that entire slice, crust and all.  It wasn't a little "Chloe-sized" slice either.  It was a full piece just like we were eating.  We just kept watching her in disbelief.

We've had that pizza a couple more times since then, and while she still likes it, we haven't had anything like that first experience.  I guess it's true what they say... when they are hungry, they really will eat!
