Sesame Street Live

Today was a day that Jeff & I had been looking forward to for months... Sesame Street Live!  Now, I have to stop here and admit that I was wrong about something.  Listen closely because this doesn't happen often. LOL

Months ago when we bought the tickets, we had the opportunity to get front row seats.  Jeff wanted to do it, but I talked him out of it for 2 reasons.  First, they were twice as expensive as the 3rd row.  Secondly, I wasn't sure how she'd react to seeing giant, real-life, in-your-face characters.  I was afraid being on the front row (knowing that the characters come out and dance with the kids) would just be too frightening.

If only I could turn back time!  I would've forked over the money because she had an absolute BLAST.

I should start by saying that Chloe didn't get a nap today, so we were slightly concerned that a meltdown would be imminent.

From the very first note of the first song, she was completely mesmerized.  When she saw the characters come out, she laughed and clapped, and shouted their names.  She danced on daddy's lap throughout the show.

During intermission, a vendor came through the audience selling mylar balloons with cookie monster on one side and elmo on the other.  Chloe was SO sweet when she pointed out the balloons.  Even when she saw other children getting them, she never asked for one or threw a fit.  Unfortunately, we didn't have any cash on us, so when jeff went out to the restroom, I asked him to find a way to get her a balloon.  Fortunately, he found an ATM, so he pulled out cash and spent a whopping $8 on a balloon.  The look on her face when he came back to the seat with it was absolutely priceless!  She was SO happy!  Even after bringing the balloon home, she kept playing with it.  She kept grabbing it and saying, "I got you, balloon!"  and then she'd get tangled up in the string and say "it tickles!"  LOL

For Chloe, the absolute highlight of the show was toward the end when they were bouncing a huge beach ball around the audience.  When she saw the ball, she kept reaching trying to catch it.  I was so happy when the ball came to me, and I was able to hand it to her to hit up.  That's ALL she talked about afterward. When we got in the car, I said, "Did you have fun!?"  She said, "Catch ball!  I catch it!"  And for the rest of the evening, if you asked her anything about the show, THAT is what she talked about.  It really stuck with her!

It was a long, tiring show, and I think we were all ready for it to be over (90 min with a 15 min intermission). We will be watching the schedule though, and the next time it comes back to Wichita, we will be there!

By the time we got home and got her ready for bed, she was wiped out and ready to sleep.  As I was putting her to bed, we rocked and sang one song before she said, "Night Night."  I said, "Are you ready for night night?"  She said, "Yes!"  I never heard a peep out of her after putting her in bed!

Here are a few photos from the show, and Jeff made a YouTube video, too!

And the video...
