First, we were so excited when Santa sent our very own "Elf On The Shelf" to spend the month of December with us. "Bob" (as Chloe named him) was very very busy and filled our month with joy, so he'll be getting his own post in the near future.
For now, I just want to recap the events of the month and some of the random funnies that we shared on facebook.

How you know you're married to the right person:
I was helping Jeff as he fixed the zipper on Chloe's jacket. It was broken into pieces, so he needed to epoxy it back together. As he got the pieces lined up, he said, "Ok, I'm gonna needa clamp it."
To which we both said, at the same time, "Jed!"
Yep... when you both make the same bad joke at midnight and then laugh hysterically, you know that you're made for each other.

On December 5, Jeff & I went out to a Garth Brooks concert while Chloe stayed home with our babysitter Mykiah. She LOVES it when Kiah comes over, so she didn't mind at all that Mommy & Daddy were going to be gone for several hours. She excitedly spent the day helping me clean the house and bake brownies so that everything would be just perfect for Kiah. They had the best time, and so did we!
Jeff & I even ended up on the "kissing cam" during the concert!

We went out to Prairie PInes again to see the REAL Santa this year. Each year when we've gone to see him, Chloe has been terrified. This year, she was super excited and hopped right up on his lap and told him that she wanted "cutting food," "felt food," and a microphone for Christmas. She also told him thank you for letting Bob the Elf come to our house, and Santa told her that Bob checks in often to let him know what a nice girl she is!

Chloe was really excited for her Christmas program at preschool. This was the big performance with the whole school, and they got to dress up in their "Christmas best." She spent weeks practicing her lyrics and was just beaming from the risers when she looked out and saw us in the audience. Afterward, they even had a very special surprise guest... SANTA!

This is how I know that Chloe is Jeff's daughter.
C: (running in sticking her tushie out) Oh hi mom! I love you!
me: I love you, too. You look guilty. What did you do?
c: I tooted. STINKY! (giggling uncontrollably)
me: Hmmm don't you think that's rude? shouldn't you do that in private? You don't toot at school, do you?
c: Oh yes I do! a LOT!
me: And what do your friends say about that?
c: They ask who tooted, and I just say, "It was me, friends!"

Sigh. We're gonna have to fix this if she ever hopes to date. But on the other hand...

Some songs take on a whole new meaning when sung by Chloe. Case in point:
The farmer in the dell,
the farmer in the dell,
heigh ho the derry-o
the farmer in the dell
the farmer in the dell,
heigh ho the derry-o
the farmer in the dell
The farmer takes a life,
the farmer takes a life...
the farmer takes a life...

This morning, Chloe & I were talking about going to see Christmas lights one night next week when Kendra is here. I was reminding her that we could bundle up and have hot cocoa while we drove around.
Chloe: I don't yike hot cocoa.
Me: What would you rather have?
C: Chocolate milk, of course.

of course.

Another Chloe funny that I forgot to post the other day... We were in the car, and suddenly, from the back seat, we hear Chloe freaking ALL the way out, "A bug! A BUG!!! AAAAAAAHHHHH A BUG!!!! GET IT OFF!!!!"
2 seconds later.
"Oh wait. It's just a piece of a leaf."
-----------------------
Prior to Christmas, my sweet friend Erica sent Chloe a gift for Christmas. Chloe could not wait to tear into it, so she peeked before it was time to open it. SO glad we caught it on video!

#tbt to when Kendra was 5 years old and still VERY serious about her Santa visits. How is this same little girl now preparing to go off to college next fall? WHERE does the time go? I swear this was just yesterday!

Rock Star Chloe

One day before school, after we'd taken Jeff to work, Chloe found "the biggest leaf in the whole wide world!" in our driveway, and she HAD to have a picture of it:

Sissy is here! Christmas break can officially start! (Dec 20)
---------------------
On the weekend that we drove down to pick up Kendra, we surprised my parents for their 30th wedding anniversary. They had no idea we were coming and no idea that my sister had planned a surprise dinner for them at a friend's house. It was a quick trip in that weekend since Jeff had to be back to work on Monday, but it was SO worth it to get to spend this special day with them!
-----------------------------
Chloe is definitely Sissy's girl!
--------------------
One of the highlights of the week with Kendra was getting to watch her perform her first "coffee shop gig" at Twisted Java here in Wichita. She did such an amazing job. We have video to share, but Jeff hasn't had a chance to put it together yet. In the meantime, here's a photo:

Sadly, Chloe woke up the Tuesday before Christmas feeling very sick. She was crying and saying her ear hurt. Unfortunately, it was the day of her Christmas party for preschool. By the time we got up and got Jeff off to work, she seemed better. Since she wasn't running a fever, I decided to let her go to school, but I left my number with the teacher. I wasn't surprised when I got a call about 90 minutes later. She was now running a fever of 100, and she just wanted mommy. :(
I don't always rush to the doctor at the first sign of illness, but because it was just days before Christmas, I didn't want to take any chances. We went to an immediate care clinic where they confirmed that she had a double ear infection, and her fever was up to 102. A couple doses of amoxicillin & motrin, and she was feeling MUCH more like herself! Now, we're in the process of convicing her that she still has to take her antibiotic even though she doesn't feel sick anymore!
But because she was sick, Jeff & Chloe stayed home from the Christmas Eve service (on Dec 23) at NewSpring. Kendra & I went and volunteered during the first service and stayed to worship through the second.
Kendra absolutely adores our worship leader, Austin Renfroe. He has such an amazing voice and seems to be a really down-to-earth kind of guy. He's done a lot in the music industry, which is her dream. So, she was really hoping for a chance to get to meet him and chat with him. As luck would have it, we were able to say hello after service, and he had lots of encouraging things to say about going to Belmont and living in Nashville. AND she got a picture. That was one of the highlights of her whole trip!

Christmas Eve - We spent the day cleaning house, baking cookies, and just being lazy as we waited for Santa. Somebody was VERY excited for bedtime!
Christmas Day started bright and early at 7:30 when Chloe woke up and realized it was Christmas. She had been SO excited counting down the days that she could barely contain herself as we went to the living room to see if Santa had been here.
I think we were all spoiled this year! A run-down of gifts:
Chloe got a cookie "cutting food" set from Santa, Tangled movie from Sissy, a big RC car from Mamaw & Papaw, Iron Man hands, Inside Out Movie, Felt pizza play food, bath crayons, My Little Pony socks, matching Peanuts pajamas for her & her stuffed animal, Hi Ho Cherry O game, and a Barbie Power Wheels Beetle from us (Hello Craigslist! $40! Score!). Jeff created an awesome scavenger hunt for her, and he posted the video of the whole thing here.
Kendra got a new purse (which she found via a crossword scavenger hunt), some green rainboots with "Hunter" boot socks (it's a thing, apparently), Kacey Musgraves' Pagent Material album on vinyl, some dorm stuff, Adele's new 25 CD, a $25 Starbucks gift card, the CD of Karyn Rochelle whom we met when she opened for Garth Brooks, the Selection triology of books, some Belmont shirts & pajama pants, the entire series of Friends on DVD (those were mine that I regifted her... she was thrilled), and a music bracelet.
Jeff got an "urban holster" that he's been wanting, some Bondic stuff (it's like a molded plastic thing that you can use to form and fix things), the entire Star Wars DVD series, the entire Fast & Furious series on DVD, Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots from Chloe, and some super hero PJ pants from Kendra.
*I* was more spoiled than anyone though. Jeff really outdid himself! First of all, Kendra gave me a Starbucks gift card, snowman mug, and some fuzzy socks!! Then Jeff gave me a sweater, a Reverie coffee gift card, some pajamas, 2 mugs, an electric griddle, an ice cream maker attachment for my Kitchenaid mixer, some of my favorite mixed nuts, some knives, AND the most awesome custom organization system for my Jamberry nails! He completely customized this himself, and it's perfect!!
And here are a few other random pics from the day. I know there are more on Jeff's phone, but this will do for now...
-----------------------
Christmas afternoon was lazy, and we wouldn't have had it any other way! Sadly, I had to get up early this morning to drive Kendra back to her dad. I always hate saying goodbye, but this was really the best Christmas break!
