Oct/Nov 2015

Once again, I've let time slip by without updating the blog!  Here are some of the random Facebook posts I've shared since my last update:

Chloe told me a bedtime story tonight (it was basically a recap of a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse movie). The story ended with, "And they all lived after after after!"
-------------------------------

Pumpkin chocolate chip muffins in the oven for preschool snack tomorrow. I may or may not have made extra so that we can have a few at home, too. I just can't resist homemade cream cheese frosting!

Chloe LOVES it when it's her turn to take snacks to school.  She is so proud as she helps hand them out to her friends, and she gets to choose which prayer they say.  She usually chooses "The Superman Prayer."

--------------------------

Chloe chose an eraser as her little freebie from the school book fair yesterday, and now she's entertaining herself by drawing a line in pencil and then erasing it. Repeatedly. Oh to be 3 again...

------------------------------

Flashback to Oct 2012.  This face!

--------------------

Me: Chloe, this week at school, you're gonna learn about the letter "I". Can you think of some words that start with the letter "I"?
C: Hmmm IGLOO!
Me: Oh that's a good one! Anything else?
C: I know... Ice Cream!
Me: Yep, Ice Cream starts with "I" too!
C: Hey, talking 'bout ice cream. I want some vanilla ice cream please!

------------------------------

Chloe: Ok Mommy, I'm gonna tell you a riddle about Little Red Riding Hood. You have to answer before you can cross my gate, ok?
Me: I'm ready!
C: Ok, who is a girl that wears a hood and sees a big bad wolf in her grandmother's bed?
Me: Ummmm Little Red Riding Hood?
C: Yes! You can cross my gate now! Good job!

A little mommy & me matching ‪#‎jamicure‬ for ‪#‎manimonday‬ This is sooooo not my style, but my 3 year old is thrilled that we match. Plus, i discovered i can wear the jr wraps! ‪#‎funkycheetahjn‬ ‪#‎websmonstersjn‬ ‪#‎jamberry‬

I don't even have words tonight, so I'm just going to copy my sister's status update:
Our hearts are broken today as my grandpa passed away. It was a shock and unexpected even though we knew he wasn't well. He had quadruple bypass surgery almost 2 weeks ago and never truly woke all the way up since. His kidneys shut down last weekend and his lungs got a lot of fluid on them. They started dialysis yesterday and as they were doing it today, he was good one minute and his HR dropped the next and then just stopped. We knew he wasn't well, but we weren't even close to prepared for that. Prayers would be very much appreciated for my family.

--------------------------

Chloe was tired the other night, but wanted mommy to read her a bedtime story before bed. Mommy said, "Maybe we can read a bedtime story in the morning." To which Chloe replies, "A bedtime story in the morning? That's CRAZY BUSINESS!" IDK where she comes up with her little sayings! lol

--------------------------

7pm - Jeff told Chloe to go clean up her room before bedtime (this is something that we're really working on right now). She says, "I'm really tired, Daddy. You mind if I can take a little nap?" Less than 5 minutes later, he finds her out cold on the couch.
Poor thing!

------------------------

Preschool trip to the pumpkin patch!  She was SO excited because both Jeff & I attended.

-----------------------

Not Chloe-related, but I have to share. Kendra got accepted to Belmont! Cannot express how proud I am of this girl! This is a dream come true!‪#‎proudmom‬ ‪#‎accepted2belmont‬

------------------------

Jeff: (after seeing several candy wrappers spread around the living room) Chloe, how many chocolate kisses did you eat?
C: I don't know. Probably about 100.
At least she was honest.

-----------------------------

Our first jack o lantern in probably 15 years. Jeff is amazing! According to chloe, "this is AWESOME!!!"

----------------

Me: Chloe, it's almost B-E-D time.
Jeff: Hmmm B-E-D. What does that spell?
C: I don't know!
Jeff: Sound it out. What sound does B make?
C: (makes the B sound)
Jeff: What sound does E make?
C: (makes the E sound)
Jeff: What sound does D make?
C: (makes the D sound)
Jeff: Now, put it all together. B-E-D. What does that spell?
C: Mommy! Daddy! Zebra!.... ORANGE!!!!
She did eventually sound it out and get it right, but sheesh. Apparently, we need to keep working on phonics. LOL

--------------------------

C: (sad voice) Mommy, I'm feeling really sucky.
Me: What? Sucky?
C: Yeah, I need to suck my thumb, but Bobby is in the washing machine! I can't suck my thumb without my Bobby!

Chloe has taken to calling me "Your Highness" today. I sorta like it. I think I'm going to require Jeff to do the same.

----------------------

Somebody was suuuuuper excited to dress up for her preschool Halloween party this morning!

-------------------

Kept meaning to share this for ‪#‎TBT‬ this month, but I always think of it on Wednesday or Friday. LOL Now that tomorrow is Halloween, I figured it's now or never. #TBT to that time when our whole family (including 8 month old Chloe) starred in a JibJab Monster Mash video.

-----------------------

Alphabet magnets for the win! On a whim, I picked up a set for Chloe the other day. She loves playing with them on the refrigerator. So far, she's sounded out and spelled CAT, FOX, DOG, MAP, and HAT all by herself. Fun stuff!

--------------------

Just got back from a full night of trick or treating! Happy Halloween!  We went around our neighborhood in College Hill, and we got so many comments about our family costume.  Chloe loved telling everyone that she & I were daddy's "dalmatian dogs."  Daddy rocked the "Cruello" Deville costume!

Jeff wrote this about Kendra -

It's Kendra Grace! So proud of my stepdaughter's pursuit of her dreams, heart, and God's calling. She's taught herself guitar and has been steadily improving her vocals. She recently got accepted into the prestigious Belmont University and is hoping to declare a major in either music business or songwriting sometime this month or December.

My favorite quote from this video, "Ohhhh I think I can't! Uhh." lol

Chloe's First Pumpkin Carving Experience

---------------------

"Mommy, I had a dream last night. I was in a big green bus with my friend Kai, and I was a cowboy! I kept saying "Yippie Coyote, partner!!!" - Chloe, age 3

--------------------

Jeff made Chloe an easel yesterday (well, he took an old easel and modified the heck out of it for her). Anyway, she played school all evening last night (she was the teacher), and this morning when she woke up, she went straight for it.
I told her I'd fix her breakfast while she was playing and asked what she wanted.
"I'll just have some teacher food like my vitamin and some provolone."
I wonder if my teacher friends know that this is what their breakfasts are supposed to look like?

---------------

Jeff posted -

I re-purposed an old easel from Ikea that I'd bought for my son Rhys when he was just a toddler himself. The chalkboard was pretty much destroyed so I got a new dry erase board, cut it down, and attached it over the chalkboard. BAM! Success! lol

---------------------------

Prepping for Digital Scrapbook Day has worn me COMPLETELY out this week. Need proof?

This morning, I slept til 11am. ELEVEN! What!?

When I put Chloe to bed last night, I told her that we weren't getting up early today. I said if she woke up before me, she could play quietly in her room. Now, I wasn't crazy enough to expect that to happen, but I had to try. I was hoping to sleep til 9, but realistic enough to know that 8 would be pushing it.

When I got up at 11 this morning, she was building with her blocks in her room. I thanked her for playing quietly, and she said, "Remember? That was the rule!"

-----------------------------

Nothing like being reminded to mind your own tongue when you hear your sweet little 3 year old say, "Now that's freakin' funny!" Oops!

-------------------------

Chloe has updated her Christmas list. All she wants now is a wishing well.

I'm thinking I was older than 3 before I figured that out. LOL

----------------------

"I said I want 12 pieces of tape! And I don't yuv you anymore! I only yuv Woof Woof!" - Chloe, age 3

---------------------

"Hey look! I spelled 'easel' on my board! See? E-Z-O. easel!" - Chloe, age 3

Gotta love that phonetic spelling!

---------------------

Yesterday, a couple of Jehovah's Witnesses came to my door. I was polite and told them that we had a close relationship with Jesus Christ and were very happy with our church. As I was chatting with them, Chloe comes running to the door... on a broom... singing "I'm a mean little witch, little witch, little witch..."

I can't even make this stuff up. ‪#‎perfecttiming‬

Chloe's breakfast request for this morning: tilapia, brown rice, and a pop tart.‪#‎breakfastofchampions‬

-------------

In the shower with shampoo in my hair when Chloe bursts through the door, "Mommy, can you stop your shower? I need to potty, and I'm gonna need some privacy." ‪#‎lifewithchloe‬

--------------

I cleaned up the house a bit this afternoon, and then Chloe says, "Umm mommy? You forgot to clean my room."

Oh HECK no. That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.
----------------

Chloe has been playing with the Talking Tom Cat app for probably close to an hour now. She keeps saying phrases with the word "poop" in them just to get the cat to repeat her. Then she laughs hysterically.

She is her father's child.

----------------------

My brother-in-law Jeff Netherton posted this on facebook after they visited us for a few days earlier in November:

So I forgot to tell about when we left Wichita Sunday after visiting Libby and Jeff !!! As we are fixing to walk out the door Chloe gives me a BIG huge and says bye uncle Jeff !! My heart and head swell and I said wow I get a hug thanks Chloe !! Chloe says yeah I had to mom said !!! Lmbo that's my Chloe !!!

---------------------

Chloe had her pre-school feast for Thanksgiving this week. This is a really big deal for the whole family. Chloe was thrilled that her daddy & I were both there to watch her perform and to partake in the yummy lunch that they made for the parents. We had soup, muffins, fruit, & "blessing mix". The kids spent the month preparing by making placemats (Chloe said she was thankful for mom, dad, Bobby, & her toys), vests, headbands, necklaces, and table decorations.

We have pictures on Jeff's phone, so I hope to add some to this post later!

--------------------

Yesterday, we had our friend June and her kids Xander & Olivia over for an early Thanksgiving dinner. Chloe spent the day asking if our friends were here yet and could we just go check. She was THRILLED when they finally arrived and went into full-on ham mode by singing and dancing for our guests. She played with Olivia (who is probably 14?) all evening and even convinced Olivia to help her clean her room because she didn't want to be on the naughty list! LOL

-----------------

We're all excited as we gear up for the Christmas season! We're probably puting the tree up this weekend, we'll do a Polar Express event in December, take a trip to see Santa, look at lights, and so much more! It's our favorite time of the year!
