Chloe just came to us and wanted both of us to act out a story with her. It went something like this:
Chloe: One day (dramatic pause), there was a LITTLE queen!
Mom: What did the queen do?
Chloe: One day (pause), there was a spider!!!!!
Mom: That sounds scary! What did the spider do?
Chloe: Spider ummmmmm... climb a tree! You be spider.
Mom: Hi! I'm a spider (am I a big or little spider?)
Chloe: Itsy Bitsy spider!
Mom: I'm the Itsy Bitsy Spider and I'm climbing a tree!
Chloe: One day (pause), a queen....
Mom: What did the queen do?
Chloe: A queen ummmmmmm.... climb the tree! You be queen.
Mom: Hi! I'm the queen, and I'm going to climb a tree to get my spider!
Chloe: One day (pause), there was a ghost. Daddy, you be ghost.
Daddy (with bobby the blankie on his head), acted as a ghost and grabbed Chloe. He leaned over so bobby was cover both his head and her head.
Daddy: Big ghost got the little ghost and they lived happily ever after! The End!!
Chloe: That was a great story!
Since the end of that story, she's started many more "One day (pause), there was a little caterpillar!" (cap-up-piller) and "One day (pause) there was a little bat!"
