What we've learned about bedtime

After my last post about finding Chloe naked, we went on to find her that way TWO more times. Unfortunately, the last time, she had pooped before stripping her diaper off.  Sigh.  It was wonderful.

So last night, we duct taped her diaper shut (I wish I was making this up), and she never even took her jammies off.  Tonight, we opted to skip the duct tape, but we installed our security camera in her bedroom (it was previously in the living room).  Now, we can look at her from our phones or computer.

What we learned is that she does NOT go to sleep immediately as we had been led to believe. She rarely makes much sound after we put her down, so we have often made the comment, "Wow, she must've been tired tonight.  She didn't make a peep!"  What we discovered tonight is that she is in there having a full-on (very quiet) party.  She flipped and flopped, sat up, played with toys, rolled around, sucked her thumb, listened to her fishies, covered and uncovered, and rolled around some more.  It was TWO hours after we put her to bed that she finally fell asleep.

We laughed and said, "The thing is, this is not an unusual night.  She probably does this every night!"

Tonight it was after midnight when she finally stopped wiggling around.  No wonder she sleeps til 10am most days!

Our girl likes her quiet time in her room.  When she's up, she goes at full-speed all day long.  So, I think she enjoys playing quietly in her bed with her toys (we usually put a couple of books in there, too).  I feel a little guilty leaving her in there so long knowing that she's awake, but she's perfectly content and will more than make up for any missed "attention" when she wakes up tomorrow.
